The finishing touches are being put on a five-million dollar renovation of Ashland’s historic Putnam Stadium and they’re not coming a moment too soon for City Commissioner Marty Gute.

He’s also a coach for the Ashland Blazer High School football team which opens its new season at home this Friday night…

Gute says a few projects won’t be done by game time but they’ll be completed soon and won’t affect the new season. He says some work is still needed on a concession stand that’s being built on top of the home locker room.

Putnam Stadium dates back to 1937. It was constructed as part of a New Deal program.
