A community member argued for the school district to become mask optional at the Rowan County Board Of Education meeting on Tuesday.
Kally Barnett is an involved parent and volunteer within the school system.
She says she wanted to talk to the Board about the mask mandate after witnessing students wearing masks while volunteering at McBrayer.
She believes parents should have the ability to allow their children to go to school mask-less
Board Member Rick Whelen says district leaders are paying close attention to CDC guidelines and no changes to mask mandates are being made in this time.
