Public meeting scheduled to gather feedback on potential changes to US 460

KYTC District 10

There will be a meeting Thursday, January 25, to present plans for potential work to be done to US 460, east of Frenchburg.

Officials said the development plans would improve a section of the road between two already reconstructed areas, extending between mile point 15.2 in Menifee County and 0.7 in Morgan County.

H. B. Elkins is the Public Information Officer for the Transportation Cabinet Department of Highways District 10. He said this meeting is to gauge interest in the project and allow residents to give any input they might have.

“At the public meeting we are going to show some proposals of where they think might be impacted and get public input and from that the final decision will be made on, if the project moves forward what alignment it will take and what properties it would effect, that sort of thing,” said Elkins.

The meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Botts Early Learning Center in Morgan County. Officials said it will be an open house set up with no formal presentations scheduled.

“We will have written surveys available for people at the meeting to fill out and return. Anyone who has opinions, that wants to express an opinion but doesn’t attend the meeting will be able to do so by sending an email,” said Elkins.

Elkins says those emails can be sent to Min Jiang, the project manager for this endeavor. That email is min.jiang@ky.gov.

Elkins added this meeting is just for preliminary planning of the project, and if they decide to proceed, work will be at least a couple of years away.
