Morehead State University farm to host upcoming rodeo

Sydney Graham

After a successful event last Spring, rodeo organizers are bringing bulls, broncs, and barrels back to town in Rowan County. The Morehead Ultimate Bulls, Broncs and Barrels Showdown is set to take place November 17th through the 19th.

The event is being presented by Twisted Horn Rodeo Company. Officials said events will include cowgirl and cowboy competitions, bull fighters, trick riders, mutton bustin’ for kids and more.

Grant Parker is the owner, founder, and CEO of Twisted Horn Rodeo Company. He said this event will have something for everyone and all are welcome to attend.

“This will be an event that will be a little different than a traditional rodeo, this will be more of a roughstock event which means there will be broncs, bulls, and barrel racing of course, we always throw that in there as well,” said Parker.

Parker added that there has been demand for this type of event in eastern Kentucky.

“It’s been about 20 years since there’s been a rodeo in Rowan County, so we established that for the Spring and it went off so well in spring we decided that we would make this an event twice a year. We’re doing spring, which is a full rodeo, and then in the fall we do the roughstock event,” said Parker.

Parker said they have an award-winning announcer for the weekend and of course no rodeo is complete without clowns.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with the action set to begin at 7:30. Gates will open at noon on Sunday, and events will begin at 2 p.m.
