The Paramount Arts Center in Ashland is excited to announce the return of the popular 'Jazz Alley' series.

These events are unique in that they take place entirely on the Paramount stage.

Limited seating, beverages and snacks, all on the stage together, make for an intimate experience unlike anything else done at the theater.

This Friday, June 11th the series kicks off with ‘Queen City Vintage Vibe’ at 8pm.

To feed an appetite for live entertainment while combating the spread of COVID-19, the Paramount Arts Center announced today details for a drive-in concert presented by BCG Land LLC.

The outdoor drive-in concert experience will feature country music superstar Chase Rice performing live with Tyler Booth and Shelby Lore set to open the show. The evening will wrap up with a fireworks display.

The Paramount Arts Center will host its new fundraising event, the vampire-themed ‘Love at First Bite’ at the Boyd County Convention and Arts Center on Saturday, October 31, 2020.

The new Halloween event promises to be an exciting evening complete with food, drinks, and live music. Guests can choose to participate in cocktail attire or in costume, whichever they prefer, with all proceeds benefitting the operation and preservation of the historic theatre.

All tickets will automatically transfer to the new show date.

The Paramount Arts Center is proud to announce that the Tony Award®-winning Broadway musical, Bandstand, will play January 7th at 7:30pm.

Originally directed and choreographed by three-time Tony winner and Hamilton choreographer, Andy Blankenbuehler, featuring music by Richard Oberacker with book and lyrics by Robert Taylor and Richard Oberacker, this poignant and inspiring new American musical explodes with infectious music and high-octane, heart-stopping dancing.

The Paramount Players will present Legally Blonde the Musical at the Paramount Arts Center on August 3 and 4.

A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the movie, Legally Blonde The Musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods (Audrey Fosson) as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. 

Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances – this musical is so much fun it should be illegal!

Kentucky Artisan Center

The Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea will offer visitors free guided tours through the center’s gallery exhibit, “Great Impressions: Prints by Kentucky Artisans” and the lobby exhibit, “Kentucky Clay: A Continuing Tradition,” on Saturday, April 9.

Paramount Arts Center

The Board of Directors for the Paramount Arts Center has announced that Norma Meek will now serve as Executive Director of the historical performing arts center, an iconic landmark in Ashland.

Meek has been serving as interim director since November 2014 and was excited to accept the position on a more permanent basis.

"I'm delighted to be able stay at the Paramount and continue what the staff and I have already put in motion. The Paramount is fortunate to have an amazing, hard-working staff, and I am thrilled to be part of an exciting new season," Meek said.

Taste Of Country

Wynonna will be at the Paramount Arts Center this Friday, January 16 for a concert beginning at 7:30 PM.

There are 100 free tickets available to active duty military and families to this performance on a first-come basis. Anyone wishing to claim their free ticket must present a current and valid military ID in the Paramount Arts Center’s box office. The box office is open from 9AM to 5PM.

The Wynonna concert is sponsored by Judy Jennings, Fannin Family Automotive, People’s Bank, iHeart Media, Greater Ashland Beacon, AACVB and Kentucky Arts Council.

Budding actors, singers, dancers and artists, can sign up for the Spring Semester of Arts Academy classes.

Another line-up of great variety includes Baby Boppers Hip Hop, Auditioning, Directing, and Theatre Games and Improvisation. Complete schedule of classes follows. Registration is accepted up through the first week of classes. The semester closes with a showcase of performances for family and friends, April 13.

Paramount Arts Center Upgrade

The Paramount Arts Center in Ashland this summer will spend nearly 70-thousand dollars on capital improvements to its historic theater…That’s the word from Executive Director Bruce Marquis.

He says the work includes new lighting…

Marquis says the improvements to the 83-year-old structure will be finished before fall.

Ashland’s Highlands Museum and Discovery Center is starting a new program to emphasize the community’s heritage in Country and Bluegrass Music. Beginning in April, Director Carol Allen says the Highlands will open its doors one night each month for local musicians and their fans.

“On Thursday nights one night a month from 7 to 9, anyone can come to the museum. Admission will be very minimal, three dollars to help us pay our electric bill. You can either sit back and enjoy the musicians or you can pick and sing if you want to.” –Carol Allen

The Paramount Arts Center (PAC) in Ashland has received a grant of almost 58 thousand dollars from the Kentucky Arts Council.

PAC Director Bruce Marquis says that represents about 15 percent of the center’s operating budget and is vital for continuing its wide range of programming.

“To be able to make our programs and services possible and to support our historic building and to do that all at prices that make our services affordable for the publics we serve.” –Bruce Marquis

Ashland’s Paramount Arts Center will not cut back on its services to children, even though the facility continues to confront financial challenges…That’s the word from PAC Director Kathy Setterman.

She says the center offered educational programming and opportunities to 52,o00 kids in 2012…

"We are wanting to grow that whole initiative...and we have our Paramount Players, which is a community theater as well. We have over a 100 children, and adults, audition for every one of our shows." - Kathy Setterman

Ashland’s 12th Street Bridge has been re-opened. Its director says the Paramount Arts Center had a six-million dollar impact on the Tri-State’s economy last year…and a signature business in Salyersville has been destroyed by fire.
