The Morehead State Soccer team has received National Letters of Intent from five future Eagles during the 2019 fall signing period.

Defender Madelyn Mozeleski, forward Abby Wasselkamper, defender Anna Lohrer, along with twin sisters and midfielders Sidney and Khrista Palla are set to join the Eagles and head coach Warren Lipka beginning in the fall 2020 semester.

The Morehead State Soccer team fell 6-0 to Ohio Valley Conference foe SIUE on Sunday afternoon at Korte Stadium.

The Eagles fell behind 4-0 to the Cougars in the opening half and were unable to battle back from the large deficit.

Despite losing playing one-woman down for over two-thirds of its match, the Morehead State Soccer team found a way to grind out a 0-0 double-overtime draw against Ohio Valley Conference rivals Eastern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon in their final match of the 2019 season at MSU Recreation & Wellness Field.

Freshman midfielder Nicole Fiantaco was issued a red card in the 31st minute of the match, causing the Eagles to compete with only 10 players for the remainder of the regulation and overtime.

The Morehead State Soccer team suffered a 5-1 defeat against Ohio Valley Conference foe Southeast Missouri on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the MSU Recreation & Wellness Field.

The loss drops the Eagles to 4-10-1 overall and 2-4-1 in OVC play.

The Redhawks, who entered the match leading the league, improved their overall record to 9-4 while moving their conference mark to 6-1.

The Morehead State Soccer team suffered its first Ohio Valley Conference road loss of 2019 in a 3-0 setback against Eastern Illinois on Sunday afternoon at Lakeside Field.

Missing the defensive presence of starting outside backs Evan Kays and Katelynn Setters, the Eagles held the Panthers scoreless until a pair of goals were netted a mere 26-seconds apart in the 43rd minute by Angela Corcoran (43:08) and Pilar Barrio (43:34). The quick strikes swung momentum to the side of EIU who added its final goal in the 54th minute on a strike by Sarah DeWolf.

After Morehead State Soccer tied the match at 1-1 on a goal by senior Ashley Ritchie in the 86th minute, Murray State's Izzy Heckman banged in the match-winning goal from 20-yards out with under a minute remaining to give the Racers a 2-1 victory over the Eagles in Ohio Valley Conference play on Friday evening at the MSU Recreation & Wellness Intramural Field.

Murray State came into Friday's match having outscored its previous three conference opponents 15-1 while Morehead State inversely used the power of great defense to register three-straight shutout wins.

The Morehead State Soccer team extended its winning streak to three matches with a 2-0 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne in its final non-conference match of the 2019 season on Sunday afternoon at the MSU Recreation & Wellness Intramural Field.

"Everyone stepped up today," said head coach Warren Lipka. "After a really emotional win Friday we found a way to grind it out and I'm proud of our team for the way they competed today."

With three seconds remaining in the match, Morehead State Soccer sophomore defender Nicole Palmer scored the game-winning goal as the Eagles defeated Ohio Valley Conference foe Belmont 1-0 on Friday evening at the MSU Recreation & Wellness Intramural Field.

Palmer's goal in the waning moments came after a corner kick for MSU was deflected into the goalie box where the ball found itself at the Philadelphia native's feet allowing her to put it into the back of the net and seal the win.

Morehead State Soccer freshman defender Katelynn Setters earned the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week award, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

For the first time since 2014, the Morehead State Soccer team will begin Ohio Valley Conference play with a positive result as they earned a 1-1 tie against Tennessee Tech in double overtime on Friday evening at Tech Soccer Field.

After the Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Nora Vicsek in the 80th minute, MSU freshman defender Katelynn Setters answered to tie the match with her first-career goal in the 85th minute.

After playing to a 1-1 draw in regulation, the Morehead State Soccer team fell to Southern Illinois, 2-1, when Salukis' midfielder Ellie Lewis scored the match-winning golden goal on a free kick in the 92nd minute on Sunday afternoon at Lew Hartzog Track & Field Complex.

The Eagles struck first in the match when freshman midfielder Gabby Nastasi put home her second goal of the 2019 season in the 14th minute. With the goal, Nastasi now leads MSU in goals (2) and points (4).

Sophomore defender Nicole Palmer booted in a free kick in the 74th minute to give Morehead State Soccer a 1-1 tie against Northern Kentucky in an exhibition match on Saturday evening at the NKU Soccer Stadium.

The Norse found the back of the net first when Megan Patrick found Kailey Ivins on a cross into the box that Ivins played past MSU freshman goalkeeper Kayla Landman in the 60th minute. Landman, who split time with freshman teammate Grace Gaffney in goal, made five saves in the match.

The Morehead State Soccer team dropped an exhibition match against Marshall 2-0 on Thursday evening at MSU Recreation & Wellness Center Intramural Field.

The Thundering Herd netted a goal off of a free kick by Rene Ross with less than a minute remaining in the first half. The visitors again found the back of the net on a counter-attack goal by Marah Abu-Tayeh in the 75th minute. Aby-Tayeh's goal was assisted by Farah Abu-Tayeh.

The Morehead State Soccer team will begin its 2019 season with a pair of exhibition matches. The Eagles will kick things off at home on Thursday against Marshall at 7:00 p.m. ET before traveling to Northern Kentucky on Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. ET start against the Norse.

Thursday's matchup against the Thundering Herd will be played adjacent to Jayne Stadium on the MSU Recreation and Wellness Center Intramural Field. Spectators should bring blankets or lawn chairs to set up outside of the facility. Concessions will not be sold during the event.

The Morehead State Soccer program has hired former Nebraska goalkeeper Lauren Smith as a graduate assistant coach.

Smith, who is a native of Glenview, Ill., played four seasons for the Cornhuskers in goal. During that time the Nebraska Soccer program racked up 37 wins and qualified for the NCAA Tournament during her sophomore campaign in 2011. In the classroom, Smith was recognized as Academic All-Big Ten as a junior and senior while also achieving six-time status to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll during her four years.

The Morehead State soccer team will partake in the Ohio Valley Conference Soccer Championship Tournament for the first time since 2015.

The Eagles will take on SIU Edwardsville in the opening round of the tournament on Friday at 2:00 p.m. ET at Eastern Kentucky's EKU Soccer Field in Richmond, Ky.

After starting the season with a 1-7 non-conference record, Morehead State won four OVC matches at home and finished with a 4-6 conference mark and gained 12 points to claim the eighth and final seed in the tournament.

The Morehead State soccer team scored the first goal of the match but ultimately fell, 2-1, against Ohio Valley Conference leading UT Martin on Sunday afternoon at Skyhawk Soccer Field.

Senior defender Makenna Lavatori scored the match's first goal when she booted home a free kick from near midfield in the eighth minute of play.

Lavatori, who earned the OVC Defensive Player of the Week award on Tuesday, now has two goals in 2018 and in her career.

The Eagles held onto a 1-0 advantage as the team's went to the halftime break.

Senior forward Dani Wilson netted a penalty kick with three seconds remaining in the game to propel the Morehead State soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Ohio Valley Conference foe SIUE on Sunday afternoon at Jayne Stadium.

Wilson, who now has made five game-winning goals in her career, was fouled by an SIUE defender as she tried to take a shot. The Elizabethtown, Ky., native's penalty kick shot found the back-left corner of the goal for her third goal of 2018. Wilson has now converted 5-of-6 penalty kick attempts in her career.

The Morehead State soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Illinois on Friday night at Jayne Stadium.

The Panthers' Lexi Ketterhagen found the back of the net in the 85th minute to finish off a goal created by passes from Angela Corcoran and Sarah DeWolf. Ketterhagen shot across the goal from left corner of the goalie box to beat the Eagles' redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Eva Helgadottir.

The Morehead State soccer team fell to Duquesne 3-0 on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Rooney Field.

Both teams battled through a downpour from the opening kick but the Dukes managed scored twice in the opening 45 minutes before adding another goal to cushion their lead in the 73rd minute.

The Morehead State soccer team erased a 2-0 halftime deficit but ultimately fell 3-2 to Kent State on Friday evening at Dix Stadium.

After conceding two goals to the Golden Flashes in the first 45 minutes of play, senior forward Dani Wilson found the back of the net in the 57th and 64th minutes to pull the game back to even at 2-2.

For Wilson, it was her first time scoring twice in a game since picking up two goals as a freshman to help propel Morehead State to a 2-1 win in overtime against Bowling Green on August 28, 2015.

Despite outshooting its opponent for the first time in 2018 season, the Morehead State soccer team fell to Kennesaw State 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Kennesaw State.

The Eagles fired a season-high 17 shots while also having a season-best nine shots on goal. Of the nine shots on goal, two were near goals that were bounced off the goal as senior forward Dani Wilson's first shot in the seventh minute hit the crossbar and freshman midfielder Jenna Ahlbrand's second shot found the post in the 61st minute.

The Morehead State soccer team fell to Ohio State 7-0 on Thursday evening at Jesse Owens Memorial Field.

Morehead State trailed 3-0 at half before conceding five second-half goals. Redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Eva Helgadottir started and played the entire first half before giving way to senior goalkeeper Michelle Washburn. Helgadottir made four saves in the first 45 minutes of action while Washburn made eight.

The Eagles' offense was stifled by the Buckeyes defense and were unable to get off any shots in the loss while Ohio State fired 37 shots with 20 on goal.

In a poll of soccer players and head coaches from across the Ohio Valley Conference, Morehead State earned the OVC Team Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive season on Tuesday in Brentwood, Tenn.

2016 was the first time Morehead State had collected the recognition.

"It is always a true honor to receive this award," said MSU head coach Warren Lipka. "It shows a level of respect to the game, as well as to our conference opponents."

Morehead State soccer grabbed its second Ohio Valley Conference win in three matches with a 3-1 victory over Eastern Illinois on Sunday at Lakeside Field. The Eagles' record moves to 3-8-1 (2-3-1 OVC), while Eastern Illinois falls to 5-8-1 (0-5 OVC) on the season.

Marisa Lavatori recorded the first goal of her Morehead State career, but the Eagles (1-5) fell to Evansville (4-4) by a score of 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at McCutchan Stadium.

"Our performance picked up in the second half, but it was a little too late," said head coach Warren Lipka. "We have to be ready to play from the first whistle to the last."

Morehead State soccer ended its non-conference losing skid with a 2-0 win at Chattanooga on Sunday afternoon at Finley Stadium.

The Eagles move to 1-4 on the season, dropping Chattanooga to 1-3-2.

"We played our best game to date," said MSU head coach Warren Lipka. "Chattanooga was well coached and organized, but it all came together for us today. I'm very proud of the girls and their resilience."

The Morehead State soccer team is on campus and already training hard for the 2017 season. The opening match is Friday, Aug. 11, an exhibition tilt at Butler, with the home exhibition opener set for Sunday, Aug. 13 at 1 p.m. ET versus Valparaiso.

The regular season kicks off on Aug. 18 at Western Carolina, and the regular season home lid-lifter comes on the evening of the total solar eclipse (Aug. 21) versus Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m.
