  Senior Karam Mashour registered a career-best 24 points, while senior Kareem Storey and junior Brent Arrington posted their first career double-doubles as Morehead State notched an 82-69 Ohio Valley Conference win over Austin Peay on Wednesday night (Jan. 28) at Aaron Arena.

The Eagles, who have won three consecutive games (all on the road), improve to 10-13 overall, 5-3 in league play and 6-7 on the road. The Governors fall to 7-14 overall, 2-6 in conference action and 5-3 at home. Morehead State also improves to 54-51 in the all-time series against Austin Peay.

The Morehead State men's basketball team knocked down 9-of-12 from three-point range in the first half and led from start to finish in a 66-63 Ohio Valley Conference win over Jacksonville State on Saturday evening at Mathews Coliseum.

The Eagles improve to 9-13 overall, 4-3 in league play and 5-7 on the road, while the Gamecocks slip to 9-13 overall, 2-6 in conference action and 8-3 at home. Morehead State also improves to 20-8 in the all-time series with its fourth straight victory over Jacksonville State.

The Eastern Illinois men's basketball team knocked down nine consecutive field-goal attempts in the second half to escape with a 65-62 Ohio Valley Conference victory over Morehead State on Saturady afternoon (Jan. 17) at Johnson Arena.

The Panthers improve to 12-6 overall, 6-0 in conference play and 5-4 on the road. The Eagles slip to 7-13 overall, 2-3 in league action and 3-5 at home. Eastern Illinois also snaps a five-game skid in the series and moves to 23-13 all-time against Morehead State.

The Morehead State men's basketball team jumped out to a 16-point advantage by making its first 12 field-goal attempts and never looked back in a 91-63 Ohio Valley Conference win over SIU Edwardsville on Thursday night (Jan. 15) at Johnson Arena.

The Eagles improve to 7-12 overall, 2-2 in league action and 3-4 at home. The Cougars, who had previously won six of their last seven, slip to 7-9 overall, 3-2 in OVC play and 0-7 on the road. MSU also moves to 6-1 in the series with its fourth straight win over SIUE.

The UT Martin men's basketball team tallied a 6-0 run late in the second half and made 4-of-6 from the field in overtime to post a 75-72 Ohio Valley Conference victory over Morehead State on Saturday evening at the Elam Center.

Both teams split their OVC weekends. The Skyhawks improve to 9-6 overall, 1-1 in league play and 4-2 at home. The Eagles slip to 6-12 overall, 1-2 in conference action and 3-7 on the road. UTM also snaps a nine-game skid in the series against MSU.

The Murray State men's basketball team knocked down 58 percent from the field in the second half en route to 51 percent for the night and posted a 66-57 Ohio Valley Conference victory over Morehead State on Saturday evening (Jan. 3) at Johnson Arena.

The Racers connected on 46 percent (11-of-24) from the floor in the first half. Murray State then drilled 11-of-19 after intermission on its way to 22-of-43 for the contest. The Racers have now knocked down at least 50 percent from the field in eight straight games (all wins).

The Ohio Valley Conference Eagles wrap up non-conference play 5-10 overall and 2-6 on the road. The Southland Conference Bears are still winless in 11 contests overall and four affairs at home. It was the first-ever meeting between the schools in men's basketball.

Men’s Basketball Drops 66-50 Decision at Green Bay

The Green Bay men's basketball team raced out to 12-0 advantage over the first six minutes and held Morehead State to 33 percent from the field en route to a 66-50 non-conference win on Wednesday evening (Dec. 17) at the Resch Center.

The Phoenix, which competes in the Horizon League, improves to 8-2 overall and 4-0 at home with its seventh victory in eight contests. The Eagles, who play in the Ohio Valley Conference, slip to 4-9 overall and 1-6 on the road with their fifth consecutive defeat.

The No. 12 Ohio State men's basketball team shot 57 percent from the floor and tallied a 21-3 advantage in second-chance points on its way to an 87-71 victory over Morehead State before a crowd of 14,578 on Saturday afternoon (December 13) at Value City Arena.

The Buckeyes, who compete in the Big Ten Conference, improve to 8-1 overall and 8-0 at home. The Eagles, who play in the Ohio Valley Conference, slip to 4-8 overall and 1-5 on the road. OSU has now won 11 straight at home, while MSU has dropped four in a row overall.

The UAB men's basketball team held Morehead State to 34 percent from the field and used a 28-20 advantage in paint points to register a 58-48 non-conference victory on Thursday evening (Dec. 4) at Bartow Arena.

The Blazers, who snap a three-game skid, improve to 3-5 overall and 3-2 at home. The Eagles, who have dropped both contests this week, slip to 4-6 overall and 1-4 on the road. It was the first meeting between the two schools in men's hoops.

Senior Jalen Riley and junior Lester Wilson combined for 39 points, while the East Tennessee State men's basketball team overcame a slow start to post a 63-59 non-conference win over Morehead State on Monday evening (Dec. 1) at Johnson Arena.

The Southern Conference Buccaneers improve to 4-1 overall and 2-1 on the road, while the Ohio Valley Conference Eagles slip to 4-5 overall and 2-1 at home. ETSU snaps a four-game skid in the all-time series, but MSU still holds a 28-25 head-to-head advantage.

The American Athletic Conference Bearcats open the season with their second straight home win. The Ohio Valley Conference Eagles slip to 1-2 on the campaign and 0-2 on the road. Cincinnati also moves to 11-2 in the series with its seventh consecutive victory over MSU.

Sean Woods in ESPN 30 for 30 Documentary

Sean Woods, who is in his third season as the head men's basketball coach at Morehead State, will be included in an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on Selection Sunday in March. Woods played at Kentucky from 1989-92 and has been coaching at the collegiate level since 2003.

ESPN's documentary is titled "'I Hate Christian Laettner" and features the former Duke star. Laettner hit one of the most memorable shots in NCAA Tournament history, helped the Blue Devils to two NCAA national championships and played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association.

Men's Hoops Tops Cincinnati Christian in Home Opener

Sophomore Corban Collins led five players in double figures with 15 points, and the Morehead State men's basketball team posted an 87-79 victory over NAIA opponent Cincinnati Christian in its home opener on Monday evening (Nov. 17) at Johnson Arena.

The MSU Eagles, who compete in the Ohio Valley Conference, improve 1-1 on the season. The CCU Eagles, who are members of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, slip to 5-2 overall. It was the first regular-season meeting between the schools.

Men's Basketball Drops 60-59 Heartbreaker at UNLV

The UNLV men's basketball team used an 18-3 second-half run and blocked 12 shots on its way to a 60-59 victory before a crowd of 12,582 on Friday night (Nov. 14) at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The season opener for both schools was also their first-ever meeting. The Runnin' Rebels compete in the Mountain West Conference, while the Eagles are members of the Ohio Valley Conference.

Junior Brent Arrington poured in a game-high 24 points, while senior Karam Mashour snatched a game-best 19 rebounds to lift the Morehead State men's basketball team to an 80-61 exhibition victory over St. Catharine (Ky.) on Wednesday night (Nov. 5) at Johnson Arena.

The NAIA Patriots, who are members of the Mid-South Conference, had previously dropped their first two regular-season games. The Eagles, who compete in the Ohio Valley Conference, open regular-season action on Nov. 14 at UNLV before returning for their home opener on Nov. 17.

Men's Basketball TV Schedule Grows

The Morehead State men's basketball program will be showcased on the new American Sports Network this season when it travels to Conference USA opponents Louisiana Tech (Nov. 21), Marshall (Nov. 26) and UAB (Dec. 4). All three games will now tip-off at 8 p.m.

Affiliates for the contests have not been determined, but should be announced in the near future.

The Morehead State men's basketball team has been picked second in the Ohio Valley Conference's East Division, while seniors Almesha Jones and Angelo Warner have earned Preseason All-OVC honors in a vote of the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

The Morehead State men are coming off a 20-win campaign for the fourth time in the past six years. The 2013-14 Eagles also earned a spot in the College Basketball Invitational, which marked the program's fourth postseason berth in six seasons and ninth in school history.

Light Up The Lot Draws Enthusiastic Crowd

A large and enthusiastic crowd attended Morehead State's first-ever "Light Up The Lot" basketball preview event Thursday evening (Oct. 16) in the parking lot of the Academic-Athletic Center.

A special FlexCourt was erected during the day. Fans were treated to complimentary food.

The event, presented by the Kentucky National Guard, also featured performances by Morehead State's cheerleading and dance teams and an exhibition game with the Greek organization all-stars.

With the start of the 2014-15 basketball campaigns nearing, Morehead State University fans can get a jump start on the season with the inaugural "Light Up the Lot" preview event presented by the Kentucky National Guard, set for Thursday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m.

Morehead State senior Angelo Warner and junior Brent Arrington have been tabbed by College Sports Madness as Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference selections. Warner is a first-team honoree, while Arrington is a fourth-team choice.

Warner, a native of Orlando, is already 23rd on MSU's all-time scoring list with 1,133 points in 98 career games. He ranked sixth in the conference last season with a team-best 17.5 points per game and reached double figures in scoring on 31 occasions.

Former Morehead State star Kenneth Faried has signed a five-year contract extension with the National Basketball Association's Denver Nuggets. The deal is worth $60 million, according to Yahoo! Sports, ESPN and several other national media outlets.

Faried, a 6-foot-8 forward, most recently helped the United States capture a gold medal in the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) World Cup. The U.S.A., which won all nine of its contests, has now secured an automatic bid to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Milton Chavis, who played basketball at Morehead State from 2011-13, has signed a one-year contract with the Worthing Thunder of England's Division I Basketball League.

"Congratulations to Milton and his family," MSU Head Coach Sean Woods said. "I will continue to say that we want players who have aspirations to compete at the next level. Milton is very athletic, runs the floor well and has the potential to be a solid professional."

Morehead State has finalized its 2014-15 men's basketball schedule. The 31-game slate features 10 dates against postseason teams from a year ago, including Big Ten Conference member Ohio State and American Athletic Conference opponent Cincinnati.

"We are excited about the upcoming season," Head Coach Sean Woods said. "As always, our schedule is pretty tough. It will be very challenging, but it's great for us. We need to be battle tested going into Ohio Valley Conference play, as well as a possible run in March."

Kenneth Faried To Represent U.S.A. In Spain

Former Morehead State standout and current Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried has been selected to represent the United States in the 2014 FIBA (International Basketball Federation) World Cup. The event will be held Aug. 30-Sept. 14 in Spain.

"I want to thank everyone who has been in my corner supporting me," Faried told Nuggets.com. "It means a lot to me to be a part of an elite group and represent our country in Spain. I can't wait to take the court with my teammates and come back home a gold medalist."
