MSU Athletics

Morehead State women's basketball notched its seventh straight win with a 73-59 wire-to-wire victory over St. Francis Brooklyn on Tuesday night at Pope P.E. Center.

With the win, the red-hot Eagles move to 9-3 on the season. Greg Todd records his 52nd win as Morehead State head coach, totaling a 52-51 (.505) mark in his fourth season at the helm. With a 209-115 (.645) record in his 12th NCAA season and a 391-80 (.830) tally over a 14-year Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame career, Todd logged his 600th career victory as a head coach in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Morehead State never trailed in Tuesday's contest, making its living down low with a 42-24 advantage in the paint and a 47-31 claim on the glass. Breakout forward Erin Blaine demonstrated why Ohio Valley Conference voters crowned the 5-foot-11 forward Newcomer of the Week prior to tip-off, finishing with 17 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block in the win over the Terriers. Eriel McKee led all scorers with 18, complemented by five rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 37 minutes.

"It was a great team effort," said Todd. "Eriel had an awesome game, and we did a good job defensively. St. Francis Brooklyn is a hard team to guard because of the way they shoot the ball."

Morehead State held St. Francis Brooklyn to 22-of-56 (.393) shooting, handing the Terriers (4-7) their first home loss of the season. Tierra McGowan picked up the seventh double-double of her junior campaign with 15 points, 12 boards, two assists, and two blocks. Darianne Seward rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and one steal.

The Eagles are set to face off with their second nationally ranked opponent of the season next Thursday, taking on No. 9 West Virginia (11-0) at WVU Coliseum at 7 p.m. ET.
