Warner Named OVC Men's Basketball Co-Player Of The Week

MSU Athletics

Morehead State junior Angelo Warner has been named Ohio Valley Conference Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the period of Nov. 25-Dec. 1 after averaging 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals in a pair of Las Vegas Invitational games.

Warner, a 6-foot-2 guard, connected on 64 percent (18-of-28) from the field and 67 percent (6-of-9) from the free-throw line. He registered 22 points in a win over Chattanooga on Thanksgiving Day and 22 more in an overtime setback to Gardner-Webb the following day.

Warner is second in the Ohio Valley Conference in steals (2.6) and fifth in scoring (17.3). He owns 37 career efforts of 10+ points and six of 20+ points. The Orlando native tied his career high of 25 points earlier this year at East Tennessee State and Northern Kentucky.

Morehead State owns a 6-3 record, despite playing seven of its first nine games away from Johnson Arena. The Eagles set a school record with six wins in November and, at 6-2, turned in their best start since 1983. MSU hosts Wright State on Monday at 7 p.m.

Warner becomes the second straight Eagle to receive a weekly honor from the conference office after senior Chad Posthumus was recognized on Nov. 25. Warner shares the accolade with senior Lucas Nutt, who averaged 15.3 points in three Southeast Missouri wins last week.
