Warner Named To NABC All-District List

MSU Athletics

Morehead State junior Angelo Warner has landed Second-Team All-District accolades from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). He previously earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors from two different outlets.

"Angelo has received 2013-14 accolades from three different organizations, which shows the respect people have for him," Head Coach Sean Woods said. "Angelo is having a very consistent year for us. He's become a leader for this program, on and off the floor."

Warner, who has tallied 1,119 points in 97 collegiate games, became the 30th member of Morehead State's 1,000-point club earlier this season. He ranks sixth in the league with 17.6 points per game and has registered 30 double-figure scoring efforts in 2013-14.

A native of Orlando, Warner also ranks among the conference leaders in steals (4th, 1.9), free-throw percentage (5th, .827), minutes (5th, 34.8), three-point field goals (13th, 1.6), assists (14th, 3.0), assist-to-turnover ratio (14th, 1.1) and total rebounds (18th, 4.8).

Warner has played 2,657 career minutes and started his last 58 contests at Morehead State. The 6-foot-2 guard has posted 59 double-figure scoring performances as an Eagle. He has also collected 12 efforts of 20+ points at the Division I level, including 10 this year.

Warner averaged 6.0 points as a freshman in 2011-12, but has increased that production to 10.9 as a sophomore in 2012-13 and 17.6 as a junior in 2013-14. His field goals have more than tripled, while his three-pointers, free throws and assists have more than doubled.

"Angelo brings so much to the table," Woods said. "He's can score in a variety of ways, he's a very good rebounding guard and he's one of the top passers on our team. Angelo puts a lot of pressure on the opposing guards and fits the type of defense we like to play."
