Walker's season-high not enough for Men's Hoops against Green Bay

MSU Athletics

Morehead State's junior guard Jordan Walker hit all 12 of his free throws and scored a season-high 25 points, but it wasn't enough to offset a hot night shooting from Green Bay as the Phoenix canned 12 three-pointers to defeat the Eagles 87-70 Saturday in the 2K Cheney Subregional title matchup.

Walker, who is now 24-for- 25 from the charity stripe this season, was one of four Eagles (2-3) in double figures in the point column. But, Green Bay nailed 13-of-25 three-balls, including 5-of-7 from JayQuan McCloud for his team-high 23 points.

Senior forward Lamontray Harris constructed his third double-double of the year and second in as many days with a career-high 16 rebounds (seven offensive) and 12 points. Junior guard Djimon Henson added 11 points off the bench, while senior guard A.J. Hicks contributed 10 points and a team-high six assists.

The Eagles out-rebounded GB 41-40, but fell behind 38-30 by halftime and trailed by as much as 18 in the second half.

While the Phoenix were hitting on all strides from beyond the three-point arc, MSU found difficult at just 5-of-26 for the game. The Eagles had drilled 15 trios in their win against UMKC Friday.

Morehead State wrapped up the contest hitting 36 percent (24-of-67).

After a four-game roadstand, the Eagles will return home Sunday to host Lipscomb at 2:05 p.m. ET.
