Veterans Day virtual celebration planned

Morehead State University

Morehead State will hold a virtual celebration of Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 4 p.m., via WebEx.

Before the event, at 11 a.m., American Legion Post #126 will hold a brief ceremony at Veterans Park in downtown Morehead. The event will be livestreamed for those who can’t attend in person.

The event will feature guest speaker, Brigadier General Hal Lumberton, adjutant general for the Kentucky Army National Guard. The event will also feature recognition of the winners of the Rowan County Schools’ annual Veterans Day essay contest and musical performances by the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music, MSU Chamber Singers and the MSU Black Gospel Ensemble/Jazz Ensemble. There will also be a dance performance by the MSU Dance Ensemble. A memorial presentation for veterans will also take place.

“Attending this event will pay homage to the selfless sacrifice of the veterans and their families. Attendees will get to honor the veterans from the MSU and Morehead community.” said Dr. Silas Session, director of military initiatives. “This event is not just for military related students. We want the entire MSU and Morehead community to celebrate together.”

To register for the event or for more information, email veteransresourcecenter@moreheadstate.edu or call 606-783-9267.
