Contractors have reopened US 60 east in Rowan County today after a culvert replacement. The highway remains one lane at Glenwood Hollow (mile marker 16) with traffic controlled by temporary signals. Motorists should expect delays and use caution in the work zone.
The work is part of a $2.2 million federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) project along seven miles of US 60 from Bramblewood Lane to the Carter County line that will widen shoulders, remove trees and other roadside obstacles, add better drainage, signage and guardrail, improve curves, and provide new blacktop.
The project is being done by Frederick and May Construction Co., Inc., under a low-bid Transportation Cabinet contract.
