Traffic Advisory: Bridge repairs, one-lane traffic on I-64 at 161 MM near Olive Hill

Fixmystate

Contractors expect to begin joint repairs today, Monday, April 22, on I-64 over the Tygarts Creek bridges near Olive Hill just west of Exit 161.

Motorists should expect one-lane traffic across the bridges – the right lane will close first, followed by the left lane – during work hours, approximately 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day for the next couple of weeks.

In May, painting contractors will mobilize to paint bridge beams underneath each of the bridges.

Where contractors are working, the bridges will be restricted to one-lane traffic each direction during daytime work hours only. Motorists should watch electronic message boards for closure notices and times.

The work is part of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet bridge painting and repair project totaling nearly $2 million in highway improvements along I-64 in Carter and Rowan counties.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow-down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
