Terra Nova begins The Little Company's 2018-2019 season

Morehead State University’s Lucile Caudle Little Theater will begin its theatrical 2018-2019 season with the play Terra Nova.

The show will be put on by MSU’s Department of Music, Theater and Dance and directed by Octavia Biggs, who is also the director of The Little Company Theater.

The play was written by Ted Tally about the true story of Five Englishmen in a race with a team of Norwegians to be the first to reach the south pole from 1911 to 1912.

Biggs will be focusing the tale from the perspective of Caption Scott, the leader for the English Team. The play will show Scott’s love for his wife and his dedication to his county and military, as the men reach the south pole only to find that the Norwegians have beat them.

“There is such a sense of heroism and bravery when it comes to the military that most people not involved or familiar with military maybe don’t even understand,” said Biggs. “It brings that to your audience, and I love that.”

As the audience follows the men’s taxing journey, all eventually succumb one by one to the harsh environment.

“It’s poignant, it’s intellectual, it’s reflective, and it’s hard to imagine what these men went through,” said Biggs.

Terra Nova will open Thursday, September 27 and run through the weekend of October 7.

Tickets for adults and non-MSU students are $11, senior and children’s tickets are $6 and MSU student tickets are free.
