Temporary closure of US 60 in Rowan County for drainage replacement

KYForward

The temporary closure of US 60 in Rowan County this week for a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet highway safety improvement project has been rescheduled for Friday due to weather.

Traffic Advisory: US 60 closed Friday, June 21 at Lakeside Christian Academy.

Beginning at 6 a.m. Friday, June 21, contractors will close US 60 just west (Farmer's side) of Lakeside Christian Academy (mile point 5.4) to trench across the roadway and install a new drainage system underneath it. The road will remain closed to all traffic for at least 12 hours, or until work is complete. During the closure, motorists should seek alternate routes.

Thru traffic may detour using KY 180, I-64 and KY 32 through Morehead, or other routes.

The work is part of a KYTC highway safety improvement project that will create left- and right-turn lanes at the school. Work is being done under a $619,887.47 contract awarded to The Walker Company of Kentucky, Inc.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow-down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
