Soccer Defeated by SIUE to End 2019 Season

MSU Athletics

The Morehead State Soccer team fell 6-0 to Ohio Valley Conference foe SIUE on Sunday afternoon at Korte Stadium.

The Eagles fell behind 4-0 to the Cougars in the opening half and were unable to battle back from the large deficit.

"I'm very disappointed with how we competed in the first half," said MSU head coach Warren Lipka. "I really felt we were ready and then we basically gave them three goals. You can't expect to win after giving a team a 3-0 lead. It's been a tough year with injuries but nonetheless we need to come out and compete in these do-or-die games."

SIUE improved to 8-5-4 overall and 5-2-3 in league play with the win.

Morehead State's season ends with the loss as they are eliminated from contention for one of the OVC's top-eight spots that play in the league's championship tournament.

The Eagles close out 2019 with a record of 4-12-2 overall and 2-6-2 in OVC play.
