Soccer To Begin Play on MSU Rec & Wellness Intramural Field

MSU Athletics

The Morehead State Soccer program will now call the MSU Recreation & Wellness Intramural Field home, Associate Athletic Director Jamie Gordon announced on Wednesday.

"This is a great opportunity for our soccer program," said Gordon. "We are always looking for ways to boost our student-athlete experience and this facility is something we believe will do that. Our department saw the excitement created during our exhibition match against Marshall at the facility and wanted to capitalize on that."

The Eagles, who have shared Jayne Stadium with the Morehead State Football team since 2001, will begin playing at the facility on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. ET against Butler in their season-opening match.

"We're really excited for the move," said head coach Warren Lipka. "Our program created some great memories at Jayne Stadium which includes us bringing home an Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship in 2010. Now, we look forward to creating new memories at a great facility that will create a fun atmosphere for our fans."

Students, fans, and parents are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit up around the facility. Bleacher seating will be available on the Lee Cemetery Road side of the field while a concession stand will be open on Freddy Drive.

Ticketing locations will be set up on both ends of Freddy Drive. Tickets will remain $6 for adults and $3 for youth. Students will be granted free admission with a valid MSU ID.
