Restaurants are allowed to open in Kentucky today at 33% seating capacity inside and outdoor dining with social distancing. Kelin Beatie is the manager of Zim’s Café at Lexington’s Old Courthouse told WUKY they are focusing on patio dining for now. “We’re not quite ready to have people inside just yet. We don’t want to rush into anything but we’re definitely trying to really vamp up our outside and make sure everything is comfortable and people want to be outside. We’ve all been locked up in our houses all this time so everybody wants to be outside anyway so that’s great.”

Several other restaurants are following suit, offering only outdoor dining and pick-up. Others are opening to inside dining with the reduced seating. Staff will be required to wear PPE like gloves and masks. Customers may be asked to wear masks until seated and you can be refused service if you don’t comply.

Unfortunately many eateries were not able to survive the shutdown and have closed their doors for good. We recommend checking on-line before venturing out to find out how your favorite eatery is operating.
