Saint Joseph Mount Sterling opened a new progressive care unit (PCU) on Monday, March 11. This intermediate care unit will better serve patients that are transitioning between the intensive care unit (ICU) and medical-surgical care.
“With the opening of the new PCU, we’re making efforts to meet the needs of our community,” said Jennifer Chism MSN, RN, director of nursing, Saint Joseph Mount Sterling. “This new unit will help us grow and better serve our patients.”
Six beds will be dedicated to the new PCU on the second floor of Saint Joseph Mount Sterling. Eight nurses will staff the unit, providing an exceptional 3 to 1 patient care ratio.
