State snow fighters across northeast Kentucky are making progress clearing roadways in the wake of an overnight winter storm.
Snow has stopped across Kentucky Department of Highways District 9 and main routes such as Interstate 64, AA Highway, US 23, US 60 and others are reported as wet pavement or slushy to partly covered with snow, especially turn lanes and shoulders - with more roadway snow cover reported in Ohio River counties. Other roads remain partly to mostly covered with snow as highway crews continue plowing and treating with salt.
Diminishing snow and rising air and road temperatures - now averaging about 30 degrees - are allowing crews to make progress clearing roads. However, with snow still on many roadways, motorists are advised that slick conditions remain possible throughout the day. If you must travel, please slow down, wear seat belts, leave early to arrive at destinations safely, and keep plenty of distance between vehicles.
Road condition updates are available on District 9's social media accounts - at Twitter.com/KYTCDistrict9 or Facebook.com/KYTCDistrict9.
