Residents of Powell County are invited to attend a public informational meeting to discuss a proposed project to improve KY 213 north of Stanton. The meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 13 from 5-7 p.m. at the Stanton Christian Church. It will be an open house format meeting with no formal presentation.
Representatives from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and project consultants will be available to answer questions and provide information about the project. Handouts will be available describing the project’s purpose and need, the right-of-way acquisition process and potential utility relocation concerns. Members of the public will be able to view displays showing the proposed route and the properties to be impacted by the project.
A project is under development to reconstruct the existing portion of KY 213 that will extend from the recently-reconstructed urban area in Stanton to the beginning of new construction at the bottom of the mountain south of the Montgomery County line. Under the proposal, the route would be widened adding a center left turn lane through the urban section. The rural section would have wider shoulders and gentler slopes. A new bridge crossing the Red River would be built.
