Morehead, Ky City Government Facebook Page

A longtime public servant in Rowan County was honored during Monday’s Morehead City Council Meeting.

Several community leaders were in virtual attendance to pay tribute to Tracy Williams who passed away last week.  Williams served as the Executive Director of the Morehead-Rowan County Chamber of Commerce for many years.  A graduate of Morehead State University, Williams also served on the board of directors for Christian Social Services, the Gateway Homeless Coalition and the Regional Advisory Board for God’s Pantry.  For her service, Mayor Laura White-Brown made a proclamation for the City of Morehead and Rowan County Fiscal Court to recognize November 4th as Tracy Williams Day.

Rocky Adkins, Senior Advisor to the Governor, also attended the meeting where he echoed the appreciation for Williams’ efforts throughout her career.

In addition to her other roles, Williams served on the MSU President’s Diversity Council, the Morehead Utility Plant Board and the Advisory Board for Maysville Community and Technical College.  She was also honored in August this year with the planting of the first yellow rose bush at the newly dedicated Morehead Women’s Park.
