MSU's Dr. Rathbun to Attend ‘Rally for Medical Research Hill Day’

Morehead State University’s Dr. Ann Rathbun, associate professor of health education, will participate in the Rally for Medical Research Hill Day in Washington, D.C., Sept. 17-18.

Dr. Rathbun is going to the event as a volunteer for American Diabetes Association (ADA).

According to Dr. Rathbun, she has traveled to Washington, D.C. the last couple of years as a diabetes advocate and “it has been fabulous experience for me and it compliments my teaching in the classroom.”

Rathbun states that it has been great getting to know and working with staffers for Sens. Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul and Congressman Hal Rogers.

The purpose of this particular event is to build support for a deeper federal investment in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and it will be focused on meeting with House and Senate Leadership and Appropriations members.

The event is planned by the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) with the support and input of national organizations, including ADA.

To date there are more than 130 organizations supporting the event and more than 70 researchers and patients/survivors that will attend the rally.

Additional information is available by contacting Dr. Rathbun at 606-783-2464.
