MSU Plans Eagle Walk Project

Wikipedia

Planning and design of an initiative to make Morehead State University’s central campus more pedestrian and bicycle friendly should be completed by the end of May.

MSU’s Chief Financial Officer Beth Patrick says the “Eagle Walk Project” will create more green space and paths through the closure of Battson-Oates Drive between the student center and Lappin Hall.

Patrick says the plan also calls for closing off University Boulevard, starting at Elizabeth Avenue and moving toward the center of campus.

“Right now, during a class change, if you see students walking up and down the (University) boulevard, they completely fill-out the sidewalk and spill over into the street and with the traffic going by, I want to create a space that’s very inviting for students to be able to go from the east and west and back.”

Patrick says the project also gives MSU a chance to better control flood and storm water.
