MSU Athletics Set for 1,000 Hours of Giving Back

MSU Athletics

Morehead State Athletics will perform 1,000 community service hours in an upcoming 10-day period. All students, coaches and staff members from the department have been asked to participate in the initiative, with each individual putting in at least three hours.

Morehead State has more than 300 students, across 16 NCAA Division I sports, and employs approximately 75 individuals in its athletic department. The Eagles will make a variety of stops, including neighborhoods, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, parks and donation centers.

"We are very excited about this week of servant leadership and engaging with our community members," Director of Athletics Brian Hutchinson said. "We will have approximately 400 people giving back, and all of them have an opportunity to impact someone's life in a positive way."

Morehead State students, coaches and staff members are encouraged to post photos to social media platforms, where appropriate. The department is asking everyone to use the hashtag #MSUCares on Twitter, so Eagle fans can see the work that is being performed throughout Rowan County.

"This will be a really good experience for everyone involved," Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Services and Senior Woman Administrator Sara Larson said. "We want our students to be well-rounded with high character, strong academics, competitive athletics and community service."
