Mountain Parkway Key To Eastern Kentucky Economy

Governor Beshear believes the General Assembly will get behind his plan to make the Mountain Parkway four lanes from Winchester to Pikeville. He made the prediction Friday during a press conference at the Pine Mountain State Resort Park.

The governor contends the 756-million dollar project will pay dividends all along the corridor.

“All you’ve got to do is look along any interstate highway in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and you see economic development. You see things happening and that’s what’s going to happen as we four-lane the Mountain Parkway all the way to (Route) 23 and connect-up so that we can go all the way from I-64 at Winchester to Pikeville and beyond.” –Gov. Steve Beshear

The governor will deliver his budget address to the Kentucky legislature Tuesday (Jan. 21) evening.
