Law enforcement and emergency dispatch personnel in the city of Morehead will be getting raises.
The city council met in special session on Monday evening to approve the second reading of the budget amendment which gives officers $2 additional dollars per hour. Communications employees will also receive a stipend related to their certification.
Mayor Laura White Brown says the city in the middle of a wage study, but it is apparent that raises are needed for the city to remain competitive as an employer.
White-Brown says once the wage study is complete, she expects the City Council will need to consider raises for all city employees.
