Miller receives Outstanding Student Award

Nacogdoches Miller

Morehead State Public Radio (MSPR) is pleased to recognize Nacogdoches Miller as the recipient of the 2021 Outstanding Student Award.

Selected by MSPR staff, the annual award demonstrates leadership, initiative, personal development, and an overall commitment to MSPR above the level of his/her peers.

Miller is a 2020 graduate of Morehead State University earning a BA in Communications. Miller majored in convergent media with a minor in photography. Miller is currently a sports and general news reporter/photographer for the Springfield Sun in Springfield (KY). Miller received a second place award in the category of Best Breaking News Picture for a multi-weekly newspaper from the 2020 Kentucky Press Association (KPA). He was a news reporter and audio engineer for MSPR.

“Working at MSPR threw me into an environment that mimics my current job,” says Miller. “I was able to learn how to work ‘on the fly’ with structure and support to guide me. I would tell other students working at MSPR to use their time there to learn as much as possible.”

MSPR relies on student work-studies, interns and volunteers in a variety of roles. Throughout the year, an average of 20 students perform a variety of important roles at the station including news, sports and feature reporting, program hosting and engineering, production recording and editing.

“On behalf of MSPR’s senior leadership team, I congratulate Nacogdoches (Miller) for his hard work, leadership and commitment to our listeners,” said Paul Hitchcock, MSPR general manager.

Serving more than twenty counties throughout eastern Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia, Morehead State Public Radio broadcasts at 90.3FM (WMKY) from the campus of Morehead State University and online at http://www.wmky.org
