Men's Golf's Ryan Gillum and Joe Muschong Named All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association

For the 10th and 11th times in program history, a Morehead State golfer has earned Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar honors with the selection of redshirt junior Ryan Gillum and junior Joe Muschong by the Golf Coaches Association of America for the 2019-20 season.

Gillum and Muschong join Andy Anderson (1993), Nick Atzinger (2002), Blake Cartwright (2018), Matt Gann (2007), Chris Gilbert (1996), Logan Hogge (2015), Zach Smith (2018), Josh Teater (2002), Nick Wilkins (2018) as all-time Morehead State honorees as 2020 also marks the third time in program history with multiple honorees.

"Joe and Ryan have excelled in the classroom and on the course throughout their entire careers," said head coach Matthew Martin. "I am extremely proud of their accomplishments and they are absolutely deserving of this recognition."

Overall, 614 student-athletes were honored by the GCAA as All-America Scholars with 376 student-athletes competing at the NCAA Division I level. To be eligible, student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior, senior academically who maintains a stroke average under 76.0 and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 while competing in at least 40% of the team's competitive rounds.

Gillum, a native of Grayson, Ky., fashioned a stroke-average of 72.9 during the 2019-20 season, competing in all seven events while earning two top-20 individual finishes and two victories at the George Washington President's Day Match Play event. In the classroom, he maintains a 3.64 cumulative GPA, including a 4.0 GPA during the 2019-20 academic year, as a Business Management major while also pursuing a minor in Traditional Music.

Muschong, a 2020 All-Ohio Valley Conference selection, tied for the team-lead in 2019-20 with four top-20 individual finishes, including two top-five placements while fashioning a 71.8 stroke average. A native of Lexington, Ky., he maintains a 3.93 GPA while pursuing a Sport Management major and a Business minor.
