Men's Basketball Rolls by Asbury, 107-57

MSU Athletics

The Morehead State men's basketball team downed the Asbury Eagles, 107-57, in their season opening exhibition game on Tuesday night at Johnson Arena.

The Eagles were led by senior guard Brent Arrington, who finished with 20 points, three assists, and five rebounds. The pre-season All-OVC selection dominated every aspect of the game, shooting 9-for-12 from the field and knocking down two of his four three-point attempts.

"For the first game, going against someone else I was very pleased," said head coach Sean Woods. "I thought we were very efficient, I thought we shot and moved the ball very well. We still have to continue to rebound a little better."

The Eagles started the game on a 7-0 run and never looked back from there. They then went into the locker room with a 49-28 lead at the half thanks to shooting 61-percent from the floor.

Eleven different players scored for the Eagles, including six in double figures. Senior Corban Collins had 12 points to go along with seven assists, while sophomore Miguel Dicent finished with 10 points. Senior Lionel Gaines finished with 13 points and freshman Lamontray Harris came off the bench to add 13 of his own. Junior Xavier Moon added 10 points in his first game as an Eagle.

Junior Dejuan Marrero led the rebounding charge with 16 to go along with his eight points.

Morehead State shot 61-percent for the game, shooting 9-for-21 from deep, and 18-for-25 from the line. They finished with a huge advantage on the glass, out-rebounding Asbury to the tune of 51-22.

The Eagles open the regular season at home against Cincinnati Christian on Friday, Nov. 13.
