MCTC Bans Tobacco

Maysville Community and Technical College (MCTC) has become the latest school to adopt a tobacco-free policy. Jessica Kern is Director of Marketing and Public Relations at MCTC. She says this change reflects a growing desire among students and visitors…

“This is kind of in response to what we felt like the majority of people wanted us to do in our community. We try to be responsive obviously to the educational needs but this was really in response to what they were asking us for on campus too. It will take all of us to respectfully enforce this…faculty and staff and everybody on campus.”  --Jessica Kern, MCTC

Kern says the school has been offering smoking cessation classes to help those who need help to “kick the habit.” The ban eliminates all tobacco and electronic tobacco products from campuses in the MCTC system, including the Morehead extension. Their fall term begins August 19th.
