This past weekend, a Lexington restaurant was fined by the Fayette County Health Department for not following the statewide Coronavirus mask mandate. Health officials said after an initial complaint they revisited Wing Zone on Eureka Springs Drive and found several employees without face coverings. The business was cited and fined.
We asked Governor Andy Beshear if it was time all health departments moved past the warning phase and began issuing more citations. “Yes I do! I mean we have got to have more people wearing masks if we want to get our kids back in school. Keep them in school. Have successful universities. Make sure that we don’t have to close down businesses and make sure they’re not closed by their own outbreaks.”
Fines for businesses start at $50 for the first offense, $75 for the second and $100 for a third offense. While health departments are charged with ensuring businesses are following regulations, individuals can also be fined or denied in-person service if you refuse to wear a face covering.
