Lexington's public transportation system is scaling back capacity in the wake of new coronavirus restrictions announced by the governor this week.

Lextran officials are reducing the number of passengers allowed on fixed-route buses from 50 to 33 percent. The new rules start Sunday, Nov. 22.
If a bus is at capacity, riders will be asked to wait for the next bus or a relief vehicle. Real-time passenger numbers on LexTran buses can be tracked using the MyStop mobile app.
Mandatory facial coverings and rear-door boarding will continue, while social distancing will be encouraged whenever possible.
The bus service says vehicles and facilities are being cleaned and disinfected frequently to protect the community.
