KY 1167 Road Closure Extended at Craney Creek in Rowan County

google maps

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that scheduled road closures to a portion of KY 1167 at Craney Creek in Rowan County have been extended by one week to allow maintenance work to replace a culvert.

KY 1167 will be closed temporarily through Friday, Nov. 18. Work was projected to be complete the week of Nov. 7 but equipment delays extended the project timeline.

Until work is complete, KY 1167 will remain closed at the work site. All thru traffic on KY 1167 must detour using KY 32 (Elliottville Road) and reconnect using KY 3317 or KY 173, or alternate local routes. Local traffic may use KY 1167 up to the work site. Message boards will be used to warn motorists.

Last year, summer storms washed out an eight foot culvert on KY 1167 between the 8 and 9 mile markers. Steel pipes were installed as a temporary fix.

Work began Monday, Oct. 31, to excavate the roadway and remove the pipes so a new preformed concrete culvert can be installed.

All work is subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
