Noting that sports broadcasts are slowly returning to the airwaves, Gov. Andy Beshear is pushing back the curfew placed on bars and restaurants.
The 10 o'clock curfew placed on restaurants and bars in early August is moving to 11 pm under new guidance now if effect. Beshear said finding the best time is an imperfect science, but there are still reasons to limits hours of operation amid the pandemic.
"What we see as the night goes on is that adherence to the rules and the best practices can get more lax and ultimately we believe that the spread occurs more later," he explained.
While White House guidelines would have Kentucky roll back restaurant capacity and close bars, the governor said the state is opting for a system that's being tried out in numerous other states.
Tuesday, Beshear announced 745 new cases of COVID-19 and nine additional deaths. The state's positivity rate stayed in check, however, at just under 4 percent.
