Following one of the most prolific days in Morehead State baseball history, senior catcher Jack Gardner has been voted the OVC Player of the Week.
It is the first weekly honor in his career and the second Player of the Week for the program in 2021, joining Ryley Preece's accolade on April 12.
Gardner nearly set the Morehead State records for single-game RBI and home runs on Friday in the first game of the doubleheader versus Murray State. He smacked three long balls, including a grand slam, a three-run homer and a two-run round-tripper to account for nine of the Eagles' 17 runs in a 17-3 triumph.
Gardner also drove in two more runs in the 5-3 second-game win. He had an RBI ground out and an RBI double.
In the series, Gardner hit .364 and slugged 1.273. Gardner ranks second in the OVC in RBI (47/1.34/game) and fourth in home runs (10/0.29/game).
