Injunction sought against State after Morehead Businesses Raided

Facebook

The Commonwealth is facing some backlash after two Morehead businesses were raided by the Kentucky State Police.

There’s been some controversy in recent weeks surrounding Delta 8 THC.  Delta 9 THC is the illicit form of the drug found in marijuana.  Delta 8 is a form derived from the hemp plant, and Delta 8 products began being sold nationally following the passage of the 2018 United States farm bill.

According to a release by the Kentucky Hemp Association, the Morehead businesses raided by KSP officers on June 15th had their Delta 8 inventory seized along with money and store surveillance equipment, as well as charging store employees with trafficking.

Officers cited a letter from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture General Counsel Joe Bilby as justification for the raids.
