Human remains found in Clearfield

Human remains have been found in a creek near Morehead.

Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt confirmed Sunday that a volunteer who was searching the creek bank alerted authorities to the remains. The volunteer was looking for Bryce Combs, the 9-year- old boy who was swept away by flood waters on September 9th in downtown Morehead.

First responders entered the creek behind an apartment complex in the Pretty Valley area of Clearfield.  It took just over an hour after the call was made for crews to remove the body.

Police say County Emergency Management Director Ronnie Day will provide more information when it becomes available.
