The equine tourism group Horse Country cut the ribbon on it’s new home Wednesday afternoon, appropriately situated in downtown Lexington between Rupp Arena and the Red Mile. WUKY's Horse Capital reporter Samantha Lederman has details.Listen
Horse Country has grown exponentially since it was founded in 2014, and Board Director Price Bell of Mill Ridge joked that with the move from shared space in the VisitLex offices to their own location on Merino Street, they’ve taken a big step forward.
Mayor Linda Gorton was on hand for the ceremony, cutting the ribbon, and has been involved in Horse Country since it’s inception.
The timing for the opening could not be better as the season gets underway in earnest, with a special Meet the Neighborsevent for locals this Saturday.
During the regular season Horse Country has attracted fans from 22 countries and all 50 states and new this year is the Horse Country passport, a free souvenir modelled on a traditional passport allowing fans to collect stamps at each member location they visit.
