Hogge Wins the Kentucky State Amateur

MSU Athletics

Morehead State senior-to-be Logan Hogge registered a 68-70-74--212 at the Big Spring Country Club on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to win the Kentucky State Amateur.

The field included 73 individuals, and Hogge was one of seven golfers to finish under par (216).

Hogge led from beginning to end in the event, which was sponsored by Clark's Pump-N-Shop and Marathon. The top five included a University of Kentucky golfer and former Kentucky Golf Association Player of the Year. Several Division I players were included in this year's field.

Hogge paced Morehead State with a 72.3 stroke average, six top-10 performances and .867 winning percentage in 2014-15. He earned PING All-Midwest Region honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America and All-Ohio Valley Conference accolades from the league office.

A native of Salt Lick, Ky., Hogge claimed medalist honors at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate on Oct. 21. It was MSU's first tournament win since Oct. 10, 2006. Hogge has posted a 74.5 stroke average, with nine top-10 efforts and four top-five finishes, in 85 rounds as an Eagle.

Morehead State's 2014-15 team cut 5.3 strokes from its 2013-14 average (305.5 to 300.2) and increased its head-to-head wins total by 50 percent (24 to 36).
