Grayson Rural Energy Saving Programs

The president of the Grayson Rural Electric Cooperative says the utility is trying to help its customers reduce their consumption of energy, as well as their bills, through audits and home weatherization programs. Carol Fraley says that’s especially important since so many of the households it serves are economically disadvantaged…

"We are working also with Mason and with Frontier Housing to do home replacement… home repairs and improvements. Sometimes we find that it's better just to simply get rid of what they're currently living in and replace them…and they can save enough money on the electric bill to make the payment. It’s hard to believe but it happens a lot." - Carol Fraley

Fraley says Grayson also has an energy auditor who makes home visits and recommends improvements families can make to reduce their bills.
