...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING... The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a 

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of east central Kentucky, northeast Kentucky, south central Kentucky, and southeast Kentucky, including the following areas, in east central Kentucky, Estill, Menifee, Montgomery, and Powell. In northeast Kentucky, Johnson. In south central Kentucky, Laurel, Pulaski, Rockcastle, and Wayne. In southeast Kentucky, Breathitt, Jackson, Lee, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, and Wolfe. 

* Through this evening. 

* Several rounds of thunderstorms are expected through this evening. Thunderstorms will contain very heavy rain which will fall in a short amount of time and onto ground which is already saturated from previous rains. This will cause an excess amount of runoff. 

* Flash flooding will be possible. In addition, mudslides could occur in steep terrain.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
