Fish and Wildlife Commission Nomination Meeting set for June 25 in Morehead

A meeting to nominate candidates for the Eighth District representative on the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission will be held at 7:30 p.m. (Eastern) June 25 at the Morehead Conference Center, Collins Hall West, 111 East First Street, Morehead, Ky.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. Doors will close promptly at 7:30 p.m. for the duration of the meeting.

The Eighth District includes Bath, Bourbon, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Greenup, Lewis, Mason, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, Nicholas, Rowan and Wolfe counties.

Residents of the Eight District who, for the past two consecutive years, have either: purchased a Kentucky hunting or fishing license; or hunted or fished in Kentucky, but were not required to purchase a license, may participate in the nomination process.

The names of up to five nominees chosen at the meeting will be submitted to Gov. Matthew Bevin, who will appoint one of the nominees to a four-year term, subject to state Senate confirmation.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources manages, regulates, enforces and promotes responsible use of all fish and wildlife species, their habitats, public wildlife areas and waterways for the benefit of those resources and for public enjoyment.

He also serves as producer for "A Time For Tales" and "The Reader's Notebook."
