Fires continue in Daniel Boone National Forest

U.S. Forest Service

In spite of a wet weekend, wildfires are still a big problem in the Daniel Boone National Forest.

Officials with the department of forestry say anyone in violation of the U.S. Forest Service Supervisor’s burn ban will be fined and may be required to appear in federal court. In addition to fines, any individual or group responsible for causing a wildfire may be held liable for fire suppression costs.

District Bioligist Christina Wampler (whomp-ler) says often, people don’t realize the danger.

Wampler says updates on fires and restrictions in forest can be found on the US Forest Service Daniel Boone National Forest Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/danielboonenf/
