Filing Deadline Set For State Senator, 27th District

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes has announced that the filing deadline for the March 3, 2015, special election to fill a vacancy in the 27th Senate District is January 13, 2015.

Pursuant to KRS 118.770, the deadline for Republican and Democratic candidates nominated by their party and independent candidates to file their certificates, petitions and declarations with the Secretary of State is January 13, 2015, at 4 p.m.

Write-in candidates must declarations of intent to be write-in candidates no later than February 3, 2015, at 4 p.m.

“I encourage candidates to file their paperwork promptly and look forward to working with the county clerks in the affected counties,” said Grimes. “And I hope all eligible voters in the 27th Senate District will participate in the March 3 special election to choose their new state senator.”

The 27th Senate District includes the counties of Bourbon, Fleming, Harrison, Lewis, Mason, Nicholas, Robertson and Rowan.
