East Kentucky Road Closure Update

MSN

After working to clear state highways of freezing rain, and removing fallen trees and debris, Transportation Cabinet crews are back in their plows spot treating roads across northeast Kentucky.

Motorists are advised to travel with caution as scattered snow showers and falling temperatures could create slick spots and slush-covered travel lanes even on roadways that were clear earlier today (Feb. 5).

Crews in all counties – Bath, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Greenup, Lewis, Nicholas, Mason and Rowan – will spot treat as long as necessary tonight. Also, many crews are continuing to remove trees from roadways and monitor high water.

As of Wed., Feb. 5 at 5:00p.m., the following roads were closed in Kentucky Department of Highways District 9:

Bath County: KY 211 mile markers 5-6 (high water)

Boyd County: KY 168 in Ashland near US 23 (trees, power lines)

Carter County: KY 1910 (high water)

Elliott County: KY 409 (trees down)

Fleming County: KY 3303 (high water), KY 3304 (high water), KY 158 (high water)

Greenup County: KY 2 near KY 7 (high water), KY 784 near KY 2 (high water), KY 503 mile markers 0-2 (high water), KY 8 between the Portsmouth bridges (power lines) are awaiting utility company removal, estimated 8:00p.m.

Motorists should continue to travel with caution on all state routes, especially in areas known for flooding, and watch for debris and work crews.
