Eagle Football plagued with season-high turnovers in loss to Butler

MSU Athletics

Plagued with a season-high six turnovers, Morehead State football fell to Butler by a score of 44-6 on Saturday afternoon at Jayne Stadium.

The Eagles drop to 2-4 (1-2 Pioneer Football League) on the season, while the Bulldogs propel to 3-3 (1-2 PFL).

Morehead State relinquished 20 points by way of five fumbles and an interception. Butler capitalized on a sack of Lawson Page on the Eagles' opening drive, as Bulldogs running back Anthony Scaccia punched in the first of two touchdowns on the ground with 9:38 left in the first quarter.

Scaccia repeated the feat following MSU sophomore Juanyea Tarver's fumbled kick-off return after Butler's second touchdown of the first period. Page fumbled for a third and final time in Morehead State's initial drive of the fourth quarter, ultimately leading to a six-yard rushing touchdown by Bulldogs redshirt senior Duvante Lane.

Tarver, Kordell Brown, Starr Hutcherson, and Brandyn Duncan each recorded seven tackles for the Eagles, while junior Nick Flores led the defense with 1.5 tackles for loss.

Morehead State hits the road next weekend, battling the Toreros of San Diego (3-2, 2-0 PFL) on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.
