Morehead State Public Radio (MSPR) is pleased to recognize Daria Denysenko as the recipient of the 2021 Community Advisory Board Student Leadership Award.
Selected by MSPR’s Community Advisory Board, the annual award demonstrates personal achievements, leadership, volunteerism, and involvement on the campus and in the community.
Denysenko is a senior honors student majoring in jazz studies at Morehead State University. She was the recipient of the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Scholarship in 2019. Denysenko is president of MSU’s Music Industry Club. In addition to her duties as a reporter and audio engineer for MSPR, she serves as a sound and lighting technician in the Baird Music Hall.
“Working at MSPR allows me to be creative outside of my practice room,” says Denysenko. “The people and the atmosphere at the station (WMKY) are very supportive and positive, which helps me achieve better results in my work.”
MSPR relies on student work-studies, interns and volunteers in a variety of roles. Throughout the year, more than 20 students perform a variety of important roles at the station including news, sports and feature reporting, program hosting and engineering, production recording and editing.
“On behalf of MSPR’s Community Advisory Board, I congratulate Daria (Denysenko) on her success and achievements. Daria is a great example of or dedicated, hard-working student staff at MSPR,” said Paul Hitchcock, MSPR general manager.
