Culvert Repairs on US 60 East in Rowan County to Restrict Traffic Next Three Weeks

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet

Culvert repairs on US 60 east of Morehead in Rowan County will restrict part of the highway to one-lane traffic in the coming weeks.

On Monday, July 26, Kentucky Department of Highways crews will start concrete repairs at a deteriorated culvert that carries Schoolhouse Branch Creek under the highway about four-tenths of a mile east of Christy Creek (KY 32) near Morehead.

During construction, temporary traffic signals will be placed on US 60 at the work site (milepoint 10.1) to restrict all traffic to one lane for the next three weeks or until work is complete. Motorists should expect delays and adjust travel times accordingly.

Once complete, the newly-renovated culvert will ensure proper drainage under the highway as well as allow for wider shoulders adjacent to the highway to enhance safety.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow-down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
